We’re not writing around an entrenched heritage claim in Lawrence Park the way we are in some of the other neighbourhoods we work; nobody’s made one. That gives us room to say the simplest possible thing: the craftsmanship matters here for its own sake, not because a district requires it. The neighbourhood’s own history says it began in 1907, a garden suburb laid out by developer Wilfrid Dinnick and annexed into the city five years later, old enough that the brick and stone in its oldest homes still reward someone who knows how to match them properly, permit or no permit.
